Sylvia Watts-Cherry
Sylvia Watts-Cherry (aka withcherriesontoptoo on Ravelry and Instagram) is a knitwear designer and teacher who loves bold patterns and striking colours. She is a prolific knitter, using her African heritage as well for inspiration in her knitting. After being a runner up in the UK Channel 4 TV programme, Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas Jumper in 2018, Sylvia was inspired to begin designing her own patterns. She especially enjoys knitting and designing garments and as well as publishing her own patterns, Sylvia’s patterns have been published in Laine Magazine, Pompom Quarterly, Taproot, By Hand Serial and Knit Now as well as Warm Hands, a book collaboration between Jeanette Sloan and Kate Davies and Worsted, a book curated by Aimée Gille. Her most recognisable pattern to date is the Nubian Queen sweater and the Village Life cardigan.
Favourite Rowan Yarn
My favourite Rowan yarn is Baby Cashsoft Merino. I love the practical versatility. It is affordable, can be machine washed and I LOVE the range of colours and stitch definition for intarsia knitting.
