De Afstap
The Afstap in the center of Amsterdam, is the Flagship shore for the British Rowan Yarns. We offer crafters a wide range of products for knitting, embroidery and other textile crafts in the shop and webshop. With many activities like workshops and courses, the shop is a well-known meeting point for Dutch crafters, as well as crafters from all over the world.
In the heart of the metropolis of Amsterdam, near the famous Dam Square, de Afstap has been housed since 1972 in the Oude Leliestraat in an attractive 17th century building. For knitters there are walls filled of colourful balls of yarn, mostly Rowan Yarns, cabinets with Dutch and English knitting and crochet books, knitting needles from Addi and ChiaoGoo and accessories from Clover.
The focus lies on materials from the United Kingdom and countries in Northern Europe. In addition, there is an extensive collection of knitting kits from the Danish designer Christel Seyfarth. For embroidery enthusiasts, there are cross stitch and French embroidery kits, fabrics, embroidery threads and accessories. Renowned teachers regularly teach knitting, crochet and embroidery courses to beginners and advanced crafters. The Afstap team, consisting of experienced sales ladies, are ready to welcome customers from all over the world in the shop or online and will fulfil all their crafty wishes.
